The 2004 Season F1fan-eBook
Race Starts
in Formula One
In the same June 28 meeting, at Heathrow Airport (London), the F1 Commission is reported to have also decided that, whenever a car now stalls on the grid, the start will no longer be aborted for warm-up procedures to be repeated. For the delay of the start and repeated warm-up was reportedly felt as a hindrance to the show.
From now on, if a car stalls, all other cars on the grid will simply do a second parade lap, thus allowing enough time for the removal of the stalled car from the grid.
This, on the other hand, allows the stalled car a chance to re-join the trailing pack.
When all cars finish the second (added) parade lap, then the start will proceed as usual.
