2005 F1 Constructors' Championship, according to old points system:
Below, you can see what the 2005 constructors' championship would look like, if we still went by the old points system. The actual Constructors' Championship 2005 is of course also available (to see it, just click the link).
As discussed on another page, in 2003 F1 started using a different points system. We can add a bit of interest to the last two races, in Asia, by accompanying below whether Renault or McLaren would conquer the 2005 constructors' Title, according to the old rules, which, as already remarked, are dead and buried in today's F1. So, all my work in making these extra championship charts is just for the sake of curiosity...but why not?
It's interesting to see, for example, that the new Red Bull Team would not have had half of the success and prestige they have enjoyed in their first year. They'd actually be behind the Jordan (Midland) Team (though with equal number of points), up to the GP of Japan, when they'd finally move a point ahead! Hard to believe it? Check it below!
You can also check the following, elsewhere on MieNet:
Now see below what the constructors' championship would be like if the points system had not been changed in 2002. The last column, on the right, displays the actual 2005 points that each constructors has conquered thus far. Side by side, as the results of the two points systems display, you can easily compare them.
