Note: The Jordan Team appealed to the race stewards so Sato could start his first race and was given the green light. Sato had to qualify in the T-car, which developed gearbox problems on his first lap. He then had to wait for Fisichella to finish all his laps, so the team could set the only available car for him. But then it started to rain, and though Sato tried bravely, it was impossible to set a better time than 1'53"351. |
