A special note on Rivaldo (Brazilian midfielder, above-listed): Although Rivaldo is still in activity (at Greece's Olympiakos) and playing his usual talented soccer, the news goes that he will very likely not be called for the Squad that Brazil will be taking to Germany – however hard it may be to believe this. Apparently the Brazilians have such a surplus of good midfielders that the Team manager feels he can dispense with Rivaldo's excellent football!... Let us hope that Rivaldo's experience as a World Cup contender will not be missed by the Team, amid the heat of competition. Can they also dispense with that?!...
July update: Certainly, Rivaldo was missed–especially in a team where his successor, Ronaldinho Gaúcho, was barely noticed. Rivaldo's presence in the team might have allowed Ronaldinho Gaúcho a freedom that he did not have, in 2006...
But this was not the sole problem w⁄ Brazil-2006...see here
